Polar
Bear Fitness Center History:
A
dedicated group of area volunteers has been working to bring a spacious
and updated Community Fitness Center to the Horonville School District
and surrounding communities. The structure will be added to the
south side of Hortonville High School next to the auditorium. The
new structure will cost $1.4 million, which will be completely funded
by private donations. The HASD Board has accepted the facility and
costs associated with the fitness center after it has been built.
The effort began in 2005 with a small group of
volunteers. The group researched thoroughly and toured several high
school fitness center, including Seymour, Kimberly, and Kaukauna.
With that information, they defined a preliminary scope, which resulted
in the first renderings, designed by Steve Romatz, committee member
and owner of Blue Design Group in Hortonville. The current HHS weight
room is lacking in size, equipment and function. The new fitness
center will reinforce the school district's efforts in promoting
wellness through physical fitness and training. Students, both non-athletes
and athletes, can enhance their performance by utilizing new fitness
equipment and classes. The new facility will promote healthy lifestyles
for our entire community to use. The roughly 9,000 sq. ft. fitness
center will provide ample space and updated equipment including:
free weights and selectorized weight training equipment and an upper-level
mezzanine with a large variety of aerobic equipment. Membership
types will include: family, single, senior and college student.
Early morning, after school and early evening hours will be available
for community use for a minimal membership fee.
